Flying is a personal essay inspired by the memories of a loved one lost. “Sometimes it is hard to imagine what I have never experienced, but sometimes, that is the only way”. The filmmaker’s grandmother (ajji) has recently passed away and Gandhi tells her, “There is a mysterious indefinable power that pervades everything, I feel it, though I do not see it”.  The filmmaker/narrator confesses, “I want to touch, but don’t know where or what”. Shot on location in Bangalore, India and San Francisco, USA, Flying is a poetic visual documentary journey about loving, grief, letting go and a search for faith.  Flying explores when you are not sure it is out there.

Flying is the second film in a trilogy of experimental documentaries about spirituality.  Embrace It is also part of the triology.
